2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport vs 2020 Ford Edge

2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport vs 2020 Ford Edge

The all-new Atlas Cross Sport is a refreshing midsize crossover that is designed to compete with the best in its class. It features solid power, standard all-wheel drive, great style, and much more. It’s also road-ready for what Canada’s roads offer with several customizable drive modes. We believe any new model we sell should stand up proudly in any head-to-head comparison. Here, we compare it to the 2020 Ford Edge.

The 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport wins with adaptable power

The Atlas Cross Sport offers two powerful engines. The Trendline and Comfortline both feature a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine that produces 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, which is more powerful than three out of five Chevy Blazer trims. The Execline and Comfortline (optional) trims upgrade to a 3.6L six-cylinder engine that produces 276 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.

The Edge includes two engine options. Most trims receive a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder with 250 horsepower, which is slightly more than the Atlas Cross Sport’s 2.0L but less than the 3.6L. The ST trim offers the lone upgrade to 335 horsepower. Although the Edge technically offers more horsepower, it is not very accessible, whereas you can get the Cross Sport’s best engine in two trims.

4MOTION all-wheel drive is standard on all Atlas Cross Sport models, but it’s not on every Edge trim. The Atlas Cross Sport also includes various driving modes. Snow Mode controls wheel spin in slick conditions, On-Road offers several optimizing submodes, and Off-Road adjusts climbing capabilities. Off-Road Custom Mode allows users to adjust power, transmission, and throttle settings to turn the Atlas Cross Sport into a personalized driving experience.

The 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport packs it in

The Atlas Cross Sport also features a fantastic amount of utility. With a cargo capacity of 1,141 litres, it has volume than the Ford Edge. All occupants enjoy more front and rear shoulder room than what the Edge offers. No matter the configuration, owners have more room to accommodate their busy lifestyles.

Finally, because peace of mind is important, the 2020 Atlas Cross Sport is offered with a 4-year, 80 000 km warranty. Which is better than the Ford Edge’s 3-year 60 000 km warranty.
